Tim Hudson, who left his start against the Reds in the seventh inning, said he'd have his hamstring injury reevaluated on Monday. "I didn’t feel it pop," Hudson said. "I’ve had hamstring problems before. It’s a minor strain." Consider him questionable for his next start. Jeff Bennett would likely pitch if Hudson cannot.

Mark Prior will undergo shoulder surgery this week and miss the rest of the season. Prior was found to have a tear in the capsule of his right shoulder a couple of weeks. He initially opted for rehab over surgery, but that plan didn't last for long. There won't be any idea about his status for 2009 until after the surgery is performed.

Yankees designated infielder Morgan Ensberg for assignment. The Yankees called up a reliever to replace Ensberg for now, but that they're making the move suggests they plan to go with three catchers after Jorge Posada returns this week. The Bombers had so few bench at-bats available that there was no way they could try to get Ensberg, Wilson Betemit and Shelley Duncan all out of their early-season slumps. They'll stick with the two younger players, and Ensberg will likely find himself a different organization after clearing waivers. He was hitting .203/.263/.243 in 74 at-bats.

Standings
The graphics next to each team are called "sparklines.” They depict each team’s performance over the last month. Each "up" bar is a victory and a "down" bar is a loss. There are horizontal lines for home games and red bars represent games decided by two runs or less. "PWins" is short for Projected Wins, based on each team’s Run Differential, and is often a better measure of a team’s true strength. Other team graphs and stats can be found on our Team Page.

Game of the Day
The Angels beat the Blue Jays, 4-3, by scoring two runs in the ninth inning, including a bases-loaded HBP of Howie Kendrick by B.J. Ryan. The ninth inning had a seesaw WPA; the Angels got the first two men on board to raise their probability of winning to 67%. But it dropped to 28% when they had the bases loaded with two out. Two batters later (the HBP and Maicer Izturis’ single), the win was theirs.

Yesterday’s Home Runs
The following stats are provided by Hit Tracker, which logs the projected “true” distance of each home run (if it were to land uninterrupted at field level) and its "standard" distance, which is corrected for weather conditions. Each homer is also categorized into one of three types: Just Enough (JE) for homers that cleared the fence by ten feet or less, Plenty (PL) for those that were sure home runs but not “blasts,” and No Doubt (ND) for true “blasts”—homers that cleared the fence by at least 20 feet and landed at least 50 feet beyond the fence.
