Aramis Ramirez left Wednesday's game because of a strained left knee, according to the Cubs.
Ramirez, who was injured running to first base in the second inning, will probably undergo tests on the knee within the next 24 hours. Mark DeRosa, Ryan Theriot and Cesar Izturis will all play regularly while Ramirez is out.

White Sox placed third baseman Joe Crede on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to June 5, with lower back inflammation.
Josh Fields is up to take his place as the everyday third baseman for at least the next couple of weeks. The White Sox are probably annoyed now that Crede decided against offseason back surgery. He had proven capable of managing his back problems in the past, but it had gotten too hard for him now. Maybe he'll be closer to 100 percent after two weeks off.

General manager Jon Daniels said Tuesday that the Rangers have not discussed trading Mark Teixeira with any teams recently and have no plans to shop him.
"Do I expect to get some calls? Probably," Daniels said. "But I won't be making any. Mark is not one of our issues. He's been our most consistent player. He's a star in this league."

Randy Johnson passed Roger Clemens on the all-time strikeout list and scattered seven hits and two runs in six innings in a no-decision Tuesday against the Giants.
Johnson moved into second place on the K list with 4,605, leaving him just a tad behind Nolan Ryan's 5,714. Clemens might move back into second place on Saturday, but it's Johnson who figures to end up on top and remain second on the list for a good long time. In all, Johnson fanned eight and walked just one in a 95-pitch effort tonight. He was in line for a win until Tony Pena blew a one-run lead.

With the Marlins off Thursday, Miguel Cabrera is expected to rest for at least two days after injuring his right hamstring in Tuesday's game.
The Marlins were already considering resting him Wednesday following the doubleheader, with either Jason Wood or Reggie Abercrombie getting a start. The Marlins probably won't decide before Thursday whether he needs to go on the disabled list.

C.C. Sabathia was completely dominant Tuesday, moving to 9-1 with a five-hit shutout as Cleveland edged Kansas City 1-0.
He struck out eight, walked none and lowered his ERA to 3.40 with this masterful 111-pitch outing, tossing just 34 balls. Sabathia was hit fairly hard by the Tigers in his last outing, but he just keeps winning. Give the big lefty wins in five straight starts now as he quietly builds his Cy Young resume.
