The White Sox's unwillingness to give Mark Buehrle the no-trade clause he wants is holding up a contract extension.
The White Sox seemingly expect Buehrle to sign below market and not be rewarded for doing so. Buehrle won't be a 10-and-5 player until mid-2010, so he feels he needs the extra protection. A four-year, $56 million contract is within striking distance if the White Sox relent.

Barry Bonds hit a solo homer off Diamondbacks starter Livan Hernandez for the 750th homer of his career tonight.
The homer tied the game at 3-3, but the Giants ended up losing it 4-3 in extra innings. Bonds is now five homers short of tying Hank Aaron's all-time record. It took Bonds 28 games to hit his last five homers, and if that pace continues he'll hit homer No. 755 on August 3 at Petco Park against the Padres.

Aubrey Huff hit for the cycle against the Angels on Friday but the Orioles still lost the game 9-7.
Huff only came to the plate four times and made each trip count. The three extra-base hits came off starter Kelvim Escobar, with the single coming off reliever Chris Bootcheck in the seventh. Huff drove in three runs and scored three times in the contest while becoming the first Oriole since Cal Ripken Jr. in 1984 to hit for the cycle.

Standings
The graphics next to each team are called "sparklines.” They depict each team’s performance over the last month. Each "up" bar is a victory and a "down" bar is a loss. There are horizontal lines for home games and red bars represent games decided by two runs or less. "PWins" is short for Projected Wins, based on each team’s Run Differential, and is often a better measure of a team’s true strength. Other team graphs and stats can be found on our Team Page.
