Yanks still in on Santana - Hank Steinbrenner thinks he has the best offer on the table for Santana. Cagey or delusional?

Hank still talking - The Yankees won't re-sign Roger Clemens, according to Hank Steinbrenner. Unless they do, of course.

McNamee could sue Clemens - Brian McNamee has threatened to sue Roger Clemens on 60 Minutes if he accuses him of lying. The media's spin on things seems to be that if you're a high profile player (say, Roger Clemens or Barry Bonds) and you're accused of using steroids, you should immediately sue the accuser if you're to have any credibility. That view ignores the practical difficulties of winning a defamation lawsuit if you're a public figure, which seem almost insurmountable. It'll be interesting to see how this plays in the court of public opinion.

Best of the rest - Today at Baseball Analysts, Patrick Sullivan makes a lineup of the best players not yet in the Hall of Fame. Not surprisingly, there are a couple players from this year's ballot.

Orioles acquire Roberson - The Orioles got center fielder Chris Roberson from the Phillies for cash, and designated prospect Jeffrey Fiorentino for assignment.

Jays sign Johnson - The Blue Jays avoided arbitration with outfielder Reed Johnson yesterday, continuing a 10 year streak of settling with all their arbitration eligibles.

Wait till next next year - MLB Trade Rumors takes a gander at the top young free agent in next year's free agent class.

Have glove, will travel - Ever wonder how bad Gold Glovers like Adam Everett could hit and still be useful? Tango breaks it down.

Rewind - In case you've been hiding under a rock the past few months, John Donovan recaps the offseason's goings on.

Fast forward - The Sporting News takes a gander at what moves we still might have to look forward to as teams move toward spring training.

The Wang effect - SG finds that the Yankees infield plays better defense when Chien-Ming Wang is on the mound. MGL notes here that groundball pitchers tend to give up more easily fielded ground balls, but it's nonetheless something worth noting and remembering.

Roll call - Jeri Sickels over at Minor League Ball is compiling a list of team specific blogs. Chime in, bloggers!
