Garret Anderson is going back on the disabled list after aggravating his hip injury on Saturday.
No word yet on who is being called up to replace him, but Kendry Morales and Terry Evans are logica; candidates. This just isn't much of a loss, as the Angels are better off with Reggie Willits in left field. Anderson is an improvement over Shea Hillenbrand as the designated hitter, but it might not be a big difference. Robb Quinlan could also see time at DH.

Cardinals placed shortstop David Eckstein on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to June 14, due to back spasms.
It didn't sound like this was coming, but since so many things have gone wrong with the Cards this season, perhaps it shouldn't come as a surprise. Aaron Miles will be a full-time player while Eckstein is out. Brendan Ryan was called up to make the occasional start over Adam Kennedy against lefties.

Carlos Zambrano lost a no-hitter in the eighth and then took the loss in a 1-0 game Saturday against the Padres.
Marcus Giles broke up the no-hit bid with one out in the eighth with an infield single that deflected off Zambrano's glove. Zambrano previously made a great play going to his right on Hiram Bocachica's dribbler to keep the bid intact in the seventh. With the game still scoreless, Zambrano was allowed to hit for himself in the bottom of the eighth and struck out. He then gave up a homer to Russell Branyan in the ninth to take the loss. It was his first complete game since 2005. Zambrano has a 1.14 ERA in his last three starts.

Derrek Lee was ejected from Saturday's game in the fourth inning after a benches-clearing brawl in the game against the Padres.
Chris Young went up and in on Lee and got him on the hand-wrist area with the pitch. It didn't look like anything would happen, but Lee started to say something to Young and Young met him a few feet from home plate. While Young only seemed to be interested in talking, Lee threw a wild haymaker that missed and Young came back with a similar attempt that also failed to connect. Fortunately, Marcus Giles was able to pull Young away before any damage could be done. Another pile got started after the benches cleared, with Carlos Zambrano right in the middle of it, but the Young-Lee fight was the clear highlight.
