Player News
Player Headlines are courtesy of RotoworldAlex Rodriguez homered twice to drive in five runs as the Yankees blew out the Pirates 13-6 on Sunday. A-Rod also walked twice in his other three plate appearances, scoring four runs in the process. The two homers allowed A-Rod to break a tie with Prince Fielder for the major league lead, giving him a total of 24 on the season. Rodriguez also extended his major league leading lead in RBI to 63. He's on pace for 64 homers and 167 RBI.
The Nationals are pursuing a trade for outfielder Elijah Dukes, sources told FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal. Offering what? It seems like the Rays are ready to deal the troubled 22-year-old, but there are other teams interested and most of them would have more young talent to offer up. The Nationals can't afford to surrender their best pitching prospect, Collin Balester, for Dukes and they don't have the quality young first or second baseman the Rays might desire. One player Tampa Bay could be interested in is Rule 5 catcher Jesus Flores. They'd likely want more than him alone, though.
Chipper Jones (hands) took batting practive Sunday and is hoping to come off the disabled list for Tuesday's game. "I’ll probably come in early tomorrow before we leave to go to Minnesota, take some more batting practice from both sides, see how it feels," Jones said. "Depending on that I guess we’ll make a decision on Tuesday. If it feels good enough to go, I want to get back in there. If I’m still feeling pain, I’ll probably wait another couple days." If not Tuesday, Jones could return for the weekend series beginning Friday.
Magglio Ordonez was scratched from Sunday's lineup because of minor stiffness in his left knee. "They just wanted to give me the day off," Ordonez said. He'll be back in the lineup for Tuesday's game. Marcus Thames is starting in right field today.

Standings
The graphics next to each team are called "sparklines.” They depict each team’s performance over the last month. Each "up" bar is a victory and a "down" bar is a loss. There are horizontal lines for home games and red bars represent games decided by two runs or less. "PWins" is short for Projected Wins, based on each team’s Run Differential, and is often a better measure of a team’s true strength. Game of the Day
Chicks love a pitching duel, and the Indians and Reds gave them something to drool over yesterday (besides Grady Sizemore in a tight uniform) by playing a 1-0, 12-inning game. C.C. Sabathia and Aaron Harang exchanged goose eggs for seven innings, when Harang handed over the game to his bullpen. Sabathia lasted nine innings, and the Indian bullpen finally gave up a run in the 12th on a run-scoring single by Alex Gonzalez.CLEVELAND (0) VS CINCINNATI (1) - FINAL IN 12 INNINGS
