Stupid - So MLB has decided to expel much effort in order to make sure that all qualified on-field personnel are wearing standard uniforms in lieu of sometimes just wearing team apparel. Remember when managers wore suits? Those were such a better idea.

Two Games Back - The Phillies now reside just two games behind the Mets but some Mets bloggers are unconcerned.

Manager of the Year - During the Mariners current six-game losing streak, John MacLaren has brought in Rick White four times. Super-closer J.J. Putz has not been used once.

September - It is tough to be a Royals fan in September.

Chien-Ming Wang pitched seven innings of one-hit ball Thursday as the Yankees completed a three-game sweep by shutting out the Red Sox at Yankee Stadium.
They're now five back in the AL East and a half-game up in the wild card, pending Seattle's result tonight. Wang only got into serious trouble in the seventh, when a Derek Jeter throwing error was followed by Mike Lowell's single, breaking up the no-hit bid. J.D. Drew followed with a grounder to third. Alex Rodriguez tried the tag-and-throw-to-first double play, but Kevin Youkilis ran around the tag and was initally called safe. After the umpire's huddled, it was ruled that he ran out of the baseline, which he probably did, but only after initially eluding the tag. Instead of second and third with one out, Wang only had to deal with a man on second and two outs, and he struck out Jason Varitek to end the frame.

Standings
The graphics next to each team are called "sparklines.” They depict each team’s performance over the last month. Each "up" bar is a victory and a "down" bar is a loss. There are horizontal lines for home games and red bars represent games decided by two runs or less. "PWins" is short for Projected Wins, based on each team’s Run Differential, and is often a better measure of a team’s true strength. Other team graphs and stats can be found on our Team Page.
