In San Diego - Coming into the playoff game today, Dex of Gaslamp Ball provides a good view from the Padres perspective.

In Denver - When you find yourself going 13-1 down the stretch to eek into a one-game playoff, it all must seem surreal no?

In Philadelphia - You certainly get the surreal vibe in Philadelphia where fans can actually celebrate their amazing comeback and not worry about a playoff game today.

Cool Standings - For those that don't know, Cool Standings provides a daily update on team's playoff chances. They also keep an archive for each day. It's pretty fun to go back and look at the odds for various teams. For instance, the Rockies had a 4.2% of making the playoffs three days ago. The Mets had a 99.7% chance back on September 12 and the Brewers had an 88.8% chance back on July 2.

From the Other Side - For 21 other teams, it is now officially the offseason.

Ubaldo Jimenez fanned 10 while allowing one run in six-plus innings Sunday in the Rockies' win over the Diamondbacks. Jimenez gave up just one hit through six shutout innings. He was pulled in the seventh after back-to-back walks to start the inning, and he lost a chance at a win when one of the runners came around to score. Still, it was a stellar outing for the 23-year-old and the Rockies now control their own destiny as they prepare to face Jake Peavy at Coors Field on Monday.

Ryan Howard went 3-for-4 with his 47th homer and three RBI as the Phillies beat the Nationals 6-1 on Sunday to claim the NL East. Howard homered in a fourth straight game, giving him seven in the last 10 games. He finishes at .267/.391/.578 with 47 homers and 136 RBI in 144 games. He'll finish second in the NL in homers and first or second in RBI. Matt Holliday is one behind him there with the Rockies still playing. Howard did strike out once today, but he came up one shy of the 200-K barrier.

Jimmy Rollins tripled Sunday to become the fourth player in major league history to collect 20 doubles, 20 triples, 20 homers and 20 steals. Curtis Granderson did it earlier this year. Willie Mays and Frank "Wildfire" Schulte were the only other players to do it. Rollins isn't the greatest MVP candidate, but he certainly had a historic season. Besides the 20-20-20-20, he took over as the all-time single-season leader in at-bats (716) and plate appearances (778) while starting all 162 games for the Phillies.

X-rays revealed that Carlos Delgado suffered a fractured left hand when he was hit by a Dontrelle Willis pitch on Sunday.

Standings
The graphics next to each team are called "sparklines.” They depict each team’s performance over the last month. Each "up" bar is a victory and a "down" bar is a loss. There are horizontal lines for home games and red bars represent games decided by two runs or less. "PWins" is short for Projected Wins, based on each team’s Run Differential, and is often a better measure of a team’s true strength. Other team graphs and stats can be found on our Team Page.

Game of the Day
The Rockies forced another day of "regular season" baseball by beating the Diamondbacks, 4-3, and tying the Padres (who lost to the Brewers, 11-6) for the wildcard. Ubaldo Jimenez had a tremendous game for Colorado, pitching a no-hitter for five innings and striking out ten batters in 6.1 innings. The Rockies did most of their damage in the bottom of the eighth, scoring three runs. Brad Hawpe, who finished the season on a red-hot streak, was the Rockies’ batting star and contributed a key double in the eighth. The Dbacks made things interesting in the ninth by scoring two runs, but Manny Corpas managed to escape with the Rockies’ win.
