Player Headlines are courtesy of RotoworldAlbert Pujols fears his strained left calf could cost him the rest of the season. The Cardinals are done anyway, so there's no reason for him to push it. Besides, it's not like it's the only leg problem he's had. "I can't make that decision right now, it will be up to the trainers. ... But as of right now, no [I don't think I could play]," Pujols said. "Anything's possible, I guess. If I feel like I can play, I'll play." Scott Spiezio will get a lot of at-bats in his place.
Mark Mulder's rotator cuff remains damaged, an MRI revealed Wednesday, so he's scheduled to undergo another shoulder surgery. Mulder's labrum has healed, but the rotator cuff is still giving him problems. It's possible his 2008 will be a carbon copy of his 2007, as he could say he's returning in July and then eventually come back in September at 50-60 percent. It looks like the Cardinals might get nothing in return for the $13 million they invested in him as he was coming off major shoulder surgery last winter.
The Reds are calling Ken Griffey Jr.'s injury a lower abdominal strain. It looked serious enough to potentially end his season. Griffey will return to Cincinnati to be examined rather than travel with the Reds for Thursday's game in San Francisco.
Andy Pettitte earned victory No. 200 of his career after allowing one run in 7 1/3 innings against the Orioles. The Yankee offense took the night off against Brian Burres, but the team still made up another game on the Red Sox after winning 2-1. It's the first time this year Pettitte has won a game in which the Yankees didn't score at least five runs. He's 14-8 with a 3.79 ERA.

Standings
The graphics next to each team are called "sparklines.” They depict each team’s performance over the last month. Each "up" bar is a victory and a "down" bar is a loss. There are horizontal lines for home games and red bars represent games decided by two runs or less. "PWins" is short for Projected Wins, based on each team’s Run Differential, and is often a better measure of a team’s true strength. Game of the Day
The Padres won their sixth straight game and stayed within one game of the division-leading Diamondbacks by beating the Pirates 5-3. Couple with Philadelphia’s loss, the Padres now lead the wildcard race by two-and-a-half games. The game was won in dramatic fashion, with a two-out, three-run home run by Scott Hairston in the bottom of the ninth. Ian Snell pitched extremely well for Pittsburgh, and Chris Young pitched a decent game for the Pads.
