Jeremy Bonderman will miss his scheduled start Sunday because of a cut on the middle finger on his pitching hand.
The Tigers were calling it a blister. Bonderman is still expected to avoid the DL, though that could change by Sunday. Virgil Vasquez will be called up to face Minnesota, and if Bonderman is healing as hoped, will be sent back to Triple-A after the game.

Athletics activated outfielder Milton Bradley from the 15-day disabled list.
Bradley is back after missing nearly three weeks with a hamstring injury. His return will mean fewer at-bats for Chris Snelling. With Jack Cust showing that he deserves a role as the DH against right-handers, perhaps Shannon Stewart can soon be dropped into a fourth outfielder's role.

Troy Glaus left Friday's game after one inning with an apparent leg injury.
What more can happen? Glaus might have suffered a strained hamstring in his at-bat in the first. Jason Smith replaced him at third base against the Rays.

Mariners placed RHP Jeff Weaver on the 15-day disabled list with right shoulder tendinitis.
Weaver hasn't complained of any soreness, but the Mariners believe he's been hurting for a while. "Jeff is a guy that won't complain about anything and just takes the baseball," GM Bill Bavasi said. "It became obvious to us when he needed to reach back for that little something extra, his arm strength just wasn't there. Once we talked to him, it became obvious that with some time off and a strength program, he will have an opportunity to return to the type of pitcher we know he can be." This means that Cha Seung Baek will remain in the rotation after Felix Hernandez returns next week.

Blue Jays placed RHP Roy Halladay on the 15-day disabled list with acute appendicitis.
He wasn't immediately replaced on the roster. Ty Taubenheim could be a possibility to pitch in middle relief until the Jays need a fifth starter. The Jays are estimating Halladay's absence at 4-6 weeks, but it's possible to make it back in three and Curt Schilling barely missed two weeks after his operation in 2003. Given his history, it'd be no surprise if Halladay tried to rush back.

Roy Halladay is going on the DL for acute appendicitis and is likely to miss about a month.
It just gets worse and worse. This might be the injury that causes the Jays to move Casey Janssen into the rotation, though the Jays are using the "he's too valuable in the pen" excuse. Perhaps the break will help Halladay's arm, which we're guessing has been giving him some problems. Still, there isn't much of a bright side to this one. The Jays can already pretty much write off the season.

Athletics signed first baseman-outfielder Nick Swisher to a five-year, $26.75 million contract through 2011 with a club option for 2012.
It figured to happen sooner or later. The option covers Swisher's second year of free agency. Swisher has followed up his 35-homer 2006 season by hitting .286/.426/.549 so far this year, and at 26, he should have several prime seasons left.

Standings
The graphics next to each team are called "sparklines.” They depict each team’s performance over the last month. Each "up" bar is a victory and a "down" bar is a loss. There are horizontal lines for home games and red bars represent games decided by two runs or less. "PWins" is short for Projected Wins, based on each team’s Run Differential, and is often a better measure of a team’s true strength. Other team graphs and stats can be found on our Team Page.
