Replacement Level - Tom Tango took a quick look to see if he could find the dropoff in defense from a regular to a backup. Short answer, minuscule.
Second Half Surge - Actually more like a slow change than a surge, but the Cardinals are definitely a different team than they were the first 70 or so games of the year.
Big Money - Torii Hunter and his agent rejected a four-year, $56 million offer from the Twins. Ken Rosenthal speculates that Hunter could get closer to $18 million per anum.

Player News
Player news items are provided by RotoworldThe Cubs are planning to activate Alfonso Soriano for Tuesday's game against the Brewers.
Soriano will return as the everyday leadoff hitter, with Ryan Theriot likely to resume batting second. Matt Murton stands to lose most of his playing time and might even be sent down to open up a spot on the roster for Soriano.

Standings
The graphics next to each team are called "sparklines.” They depict each team’s performance over the last month. Each "up" bar is a victory and a "down" bar is a loss. There are horizontal lines for home games and red bars represent games decided by two runs or less. "PWins" is short for Projected Wins, based on each team’s Run Differential, and is often a better measure of a team’s true strength.
