Most Recent PostsThursday, June 25, 2009Gallo’s HumorI don't read the New York tabloids that often, so until YankeeFanLen sent me this link the other day I had never seen any of Bill Gallo's sports cartoons, at least not that I know of.Mercy. On one level I appreciate the effort and the artistry involved. And it certainly takes one back to newspaper days of old (really old: check out the dancing girls with the "cha cha" music playing in the background here), so good for Gallo to keep plugging away at this. But really, can you find much if any difference between these and the "Kelly" cartoons at The Onion? The obvious labels, the obvious (hmmm . . .how should I put this . . .) elder-sensibility. It's right on the nose, isn't it? Tuck! -- are you in the same union as Gallo? Can you mention to him that ballplayers don't go out cha-cha dancing anymore? Not sure if they’re in the same union, but it appears they answered the same ad on the back of the matchbook cover. Posted 06/25 at 03:11 PM

Craig, Gallo will be 87 years old this December. That he may reflect some older sensibilties really shouldn’t come as a surprise. Posted 06/25 at 03:15 PM

Apparently, the Daily News internet group is of the same Luddite era. You will, as of today (Thurs) find the cartoon as #3, but then you will be stuck forever in the Sports Cartoon link within the News until you reset your browser.
I thought I was showing my age yesterday with references to The Who. Lawrence Welk, anyone?
