If it hasn’t happened by now . . .

You're not going to believe this, but:

A vote on a new ballpark for the Florida Marlins is being delayed again.

City of Miami spokeswoman Kelly Penton on Wednesday said commissioners are not expected to vote on a proposal to bring a 37,000-seat stadium to the city's Little Havana neighborhood until March 19. The commissioners were scheduled to discuss most of the agreement Friday.

Earlier this week, Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Alvarez instructed the county manager to stop working on the stadium plan until the city reached a final vote on the proposal. Alvarez also asked the county commission chairman to hold off on the county's vote on the deal.

There are few decisions I've made in this life that weren't much better for having waited and thought about it a bit before jumping in. Good for Miami for taking its time.

I don’t think the motives here are principle or policy, I think it’s pure politics.  I think some of the politicians involved have determined (rightly or wrongly) that this is the wrong time to be associated with the union of public dollars and pro sports.

PS.  Again, rightly or wrongly, I don’t think Miami is gonna build this stadium.
