My Morning in Exile

Sorry about the day off yesterday. I can assure you, what I was doing was nowhere near as fun as talkin' baseball:

  • The Yankees truly don't get it.

  • Mike Hargrove for Indians' manager!

  • Jose Offerman destroyed a man's career.

  • Was Dontrelle Willis really sick?

  • Daniel Murphy may be moved to first base. This is not a good thing.

  • Finally, Bud Selig is keeping mum about Manny. This is a good thing.

The Yankees need to hire some off-duty canine cops to patrol the “suites”. The dogs’ deterrent effect on misguided 10 year olds who are disrespectful of the empty “suites” and brazenly attempt to get close up views of their idols cannot be underestimated.

As a Yanks fan, this whole season has been nothing short of abysmal.  From the on-field mediocraty, injuries, ARod, the Stadium and worst of all… the embarrassing rants/claims of Mssrs. Levine and Trost.

That “moat” they built around the ultra-rich is the worst example of “not getting it” as I have seen in a while.

Hard to root against my team, but I sure do root against the leadership of it.  Levine is PURE Evil.  Trost is Levine’s Mini-me

I agree with Jason 100% on this.  The concrete “moat” around the “suite” seats next to the field is an egregious display of the caste system that’s now in place at the new Yankee Stadium.

I’ve been a Yankee fan since I was a kid and the arrogance that the Yankees have been showing their fans leaves an incredibly unpleasant taste in my mouth.  I can’t even begin to guess how much money I’ve spent on Yankee tickets, merchandise, concessions, etc in the past 15 years but I know that until things change, the Yankees will not get another cent of mine.  I’ve already said that I won’t be going to the new stadium this year, but I honestly think that I’ll never see the inside of that place.  I won’t go even if I’m offered free tickets, I’ve already turned down a bunch of them so far.

The way they’ve handled everything is REALLY making me question my allegiance to that team.  I know that we root for laundry, but at what point does the management of the business end push away the lifelong loyal fan?  I love this team, but my allegiance and loyalty to this team is waning quickly and frankly, it sucks.

Craig, that mess over at Newsvine has got to change; I can never get a comment to post.

Anyway, regarding Dontrelle Willis:  My understanding is that the MLBPA investigates every disabled list placement.  That being said, this was certainly an odd case, especially with Willis denying he ever had a “condition.”

egpglp—Hurm. I have a lot of complaints about Newsvine, but I haven’t yet experienced comment posting problems (unless you count bad comment content in that category).  I’ll check it out.

I’m in agreement with the rest of the ranks on this one-  Last year I could only get tickets reasonably once- for a Tampa Bay game in the beginning of April.  I’d have to be feeling pretty flush to go to StubHub this year, even if there are bargains.
For years after Sam Walton died, people said about Wal-mart that this and that wouldn’t happen if “Sam were alive”.  Do we really need George to come back, I had some hope Hank would be okay, but he seems to be among the missing.
Could NEVER bring myself to become a Mets fan, so GO TIGERS!

Len, the question is this…would you actually be able to switch teams???  I don’t know if I’d be able to.  Allegiance to the sport comes first, team second, but how do you start rooting for a team other than the one that you’ve loved since childhood?  I don’t know…these are the issues I’m struggling with.

I’ve been caught again- I like to b&m after every Yankees loss and the Tigers thing just comes from a close friend in Farmington Hills MI that debates all baseball with me twice a week.  I’m the one who will still carry a cumbersome XM boombox on vacation and leave the beach early for an afternoon game.  So I can root for the Tigers when their not playing the Yanks and for the Cubs after many years in Chgo at 3PM Friday games, but can’t change my (pin)stripes.

Hargrove should never be allowed to manage a baseball team ever again. Anyone who quits on a team like that in the middle of a season should be blackballed for life.
