Friday, October 16, 2009Random thoughts while waitin’ for the first pitch . . .The Philadelphia Daily News' Paul Hagen on Pedro in Game 2:If it works out, if Pedro Martinez pitches well, it will only buff Charlie Manuel's reputation as a baseball savant to a high luster. If it explodes, if it blows up in his face like a trick cigar and the Phillies are eventually eliminated, it's a decision that the manager will be questioned about for the rest of his baseball life. Now that hardly seems fair. It's what'll happen, sure, but it hardly seems fair. That's life though. I guess the same goes for Torre throwng Padilla. As I think about it, I can't remember the last time we had a league championship series matchup with the potential for so much carnage. Really, I could see both starters getting knocked out of the box early. Posted by Craig Calcaterra at 3:40pm Comments

And of course, it’s 1 - 0 going into the fifth. Thanks for picking the Yankees, Craig. The Angels and I appreciate it. Posted 10/16 at 05:16 PM

Nice game for both starters. And, Pedro hands it over to Chan Ho Park . . . against the Dodgers. This is weird. Posted 10/16 at 06:29 PM

Maybe Torre and Manuel hand a secret agreement to start both of their potetial disasters in the same game to reduce the chance of an embarassing blowout. If both pithcers give up five runs over four innings, niether of them becaomes a big story.
