Monday, March 30, 2009Today at THTThings to read as you realize that, in optimizing and synchronizing the iPod, your wife has somehow managed to delete 11 Bob Dylan albums yet somehow kept "Street Legal" on there:Don't get me wrong: "The Groom's Still Waiting at the Altar" is a fine damn song. I'm just saying that it's cold comfort when you realize that you're going to have to re-rip "Bringing it All Back Home" and everything else this evening. Posted by Craig Calcaterra at 5:47am Comments

Why did you only have a dozen Dylan albums on your iPod? BTW, Old Zim is giving away a free download of a cut from his upcoming record at bobdylan.com - today only. Posted 03/30 at 10:11 AM

Harry, Thanks for the head’s up! Maybe it’s wrong to say this, but I wish he was teasing upcoming passages from volume 2 of his autobiography. That needs to come out soon. As for Dylan, there are more than a dozen. SL was just one of the ones that is still on there. Not that anynone cares, but here’s what I have Dylan wise (or will have once it’s fixed) on the iPod: Bob Dylan I guess that makes 25 or so, though Bootlegs 1-3 and Biograph are multiple discs. The only serious omission as far as I’m concerned is New Morning, which I have no idea how I haven’t managed to buy either on CD or MP3 over the years. My mom has a beat up LP of it that has been in my basement for a long time. Posted 03/30 at 10:19 AM

FYI, they are releasing a remastered version of New Morning tomorrow. If that’s not a sign, I don’t know what is. Posted 03/30 at 10:35 AM

A sign it is. I’m all over it. I did miss one: I have tha Gaslight CD that Starbucks put out a couple of years ago too. I don’t have the Philharmonic, and I’ll admit, I’ve lost track of the bootleg releases. There’s a Rolling Thunder-era one too, right? And maybe one that covers 1997-Modern Times? I highly recommend the Rolling Thunder set, although some of the bootlegs from that tour are better performance wise. Posted 03/30 at 10:44 AM

There’s nothing wrong with redundancy. Or with repeating yourself. Blonde on Blonde I shouldn’t talk smack - I’m loaded with those 13 albums, various singles, 10 boots, plus the Cash sessions and Dylan and the Dead and those rehearsals (talk about rough) Posted 03/30 at 10:59 AM

And, don’t forget “Senor.” That song is awesome.
