My condolences, Rany

If this happens, I will dance the dance of joy:

According to one National League executive, the Kansas City Royals and Atlanta Braves have had serious discussions about a trade that would send outfielder Jeff Francoeur to the Royals for pitcher Zack Greinke. The same source said he believed the teams were close to executing the deal, but that Atlanta was holding up trade discussions until the Braves had a resolution of their pursuit of free agent righthander A.J. Burnett.

Why in the h-e double hockey-sticks would anyone in Atlanta’s camp be holding this up?! Get the signatures on the page and send in a swat team to forcibly remove all of Greinke’s stuff from the Royals’ property before someone in Kansas City wakes up and changes their minds!

If this does go down, the Royals may very well be competing for the worst team OBP in baseball history next year.

UPDATE: Damn.

Neyer might spontaneously combust.

My god. This is colossally stupid.

Look, I’m all for trading Greinke before he’s a free agent. But get some value for him for crying out loud! I’ve heard of GMs liking the guys on their old teams, but this is nuts. Francouer is only a good player if his batting average is unsustainably high! sheesh.

HAHA … so true and yet so sad.

Honestly, I think either this is DM trying to get a job with Atlanta again or just boredom kicking in …

Is Drayton Moore the MLB equivalent of Kevin McHale?  I believe McHale was awarded a ring for the latest Celtic championship for giving them Garnett and Moore must be hoping for a WS ring as he is certianly helping the Braves more than the Royals.

Before we totally kill Moore, let’s remember a few things:

1) this hasn’t happened yet. Rumors are cheap this week.  Yes, this has some indicia of reliability (major news source, some specificity about the circumstances of the rumor that give it extra glow) but it still hasn’t happened; and

2) Even if it does, this will probably not be a straight-up deal.  At least I hope it wouldn’t be for the Royals’ sake.  If Moore demands and receives a top prospect from the Braves and/or forces Atlanta to take Jose Guillen off their hands or something, it changes the complexion of the deal. I still think it’s a bad deal for the Royals—Greinke would still be the best dude in the deal by far—but it makes it somewhat less than catastrophic.

But please, let’s get this one done, fellas!

This is not the kind of #### I need in my life, especially right before Christmas. My head is going to explode.

When the Kansas City Star reported Pee Wee Herman (aka Dayton Moore,  because he’s jerking all of us off) was going to trade Tehan, he went ballistic and is still swearing he wouldn’t trade him.

This rumor has been going on for months and he’s never once denied it. That means they are talking about it. And Moore is stupdid enough to do it. This is a guy who traded his two best relievers for crap and then said he needed to out and find relief pitching.

If this doesn’t happen, it means the Braves are pretty confident about signing Burnett. If he goes away to NYC, then the Braves will probably jump all over this deal.

If this deal goes down, I will officially sign off my lifetime allegiance to the Royals.  Even if the Royals throw in Guillen and the Braves throw in Escobar (as I’ve heard rumored), this would still be collosally dumb.  For the Royals, that is.  Rob Neyer would have to write not only a chapter addendum to the Baseball Blunders book, but maybe an entire book dedicated to that trade.  Ugh.

@ Nick – Or at least a chapter devoted to Dayton Moore.

Apparently, the ESPN.com rumor mill debunked the story.  Thank God; it was going to be a really boring summer not watching a team perform hara kiri.  Now my quest for 82 wins can continue again!

All that tells me is that the rumours are true, and something is in the works. Moore does everything in secret and won’t discuss any deal until its finalized.

But I go back to the Tehan rumours. He went ballistic and accussed the press of making up stories spreading rumors.

The fact that he supposedly pulled a reporter to the side and spoke to them doesn’t mean anything. Something’s up, and all this means is Atlanta hasn’t met his price yet.

And unless its Esocbar, McCann and Chipper, then it better not happen. But it will. They’re afriad Greinke is going to want to much money and Glass won’t pay it. So he’s gone. Because in Kansas City, its’ not about winning. Its about making David Glass more money.

Ron, call me crazy, but I get the impression that you mildly dislike Moore . . .wink
