There are so many things wrong with FOX’s baseball broadcasts, but at least now there will be one less wrong thing:

The Fox network is considering dropping its Saturday pregame show before Major League Baseball broadcasts next season.

“In this economic climate, like most businesses, we’re being forced to review our options for reducing costs,” Fox spokesman Lou D’Ermilio said Tuesday. “However, our final plans for MLB on Fox next season have not yet been reached.”

The Web site insidesocal.com reported Tuesday that a decision to drop the pregame show already had been made and that broadcasters Kevin Kennedy and Jeanne Zelasko would be dropped by Fox. It said times for the Saturday games would shift from 3:55 p.m. ET to 4:07 p.m.

Novel concept: “Hello again everybody! This is John Play-by-Play, with my partner, Joe Color. Today it’s the Home Nationals vs. the Road Nationals! Lineups and the first pitch right after this short break.” [a baseball game then commences].

Say a little prayer that they decide the sound effects wizards are expendable as well.

Not only could they save money by dropping McCarver but they’d more more than likely increase viewership – that would be a great broadcasting twofer.

Now, if they’ll only do this for the World Series … maybe we can get started at 8.

Nice thing about being in the LA area, I get more local broadcast guys.

When I watch Vin, I know the height, weight, and childhood nickname of every player by the end of the game.

Sure, more on air time for Buck and McCarver. Just what the world needs.

Please don’t let the MLB network pick up Kennedy and Zelasko. They’re not that stupid…right???

I for one shall miss Zelasko and her crazy hair.  Oh well, I guess I’ll have to watch NASCAR to get my Jeanne fix.  (g)
