The ball bounced away, and McPherson circled the bases while Roberts was unable to get up. After the play, he was lifted onto a stretcher and taken to a nearby hospital for precautionary X-rays.

The Mets placed left fielder Cliff Floyd on the disabled list due to a sprained left ankle.

Goodbye for now.

THT’s Stats

Gross Production Average (GPA) is a simple combination of OBP and SLG that is more telling than OPS (OBP plus SLG). Following the lead of Moneyball, GPA gives greater weight to OBP (80% more than SLG) and is calculated to look very similar to the scale of Batting Average. In other words, it’s a very effective and simple batting “rate stat.” Here are the top twenty major league batters according to GPA. One name that might surprise you is Washington’s Nick Johnson, who is fifth in the majors.
