The graphics next to each team are called “sparklines.” They depict each team’s performance over the last month. Each “up” bar is a victory and a “down” bar is a loss. There are horizontal lines for home games and gray bars represent games decided by two runs or less. Other team graphs and stats can be found on our Team Page.

Game of the Day

The Athletics have perhaps hit a new low, losing their second game in a row to the Royals. This game lasted ten innings. To literally add insult to injury, both Eric Chavez and Mark Ellis left the game with injuries.

Yesterday’s Home Runs

The following stats are provided by Hit Tracker, which logs the projected distance of each home run (if it flew uninterrupted back to field level) and its “standard” distance, which is corrected for weather conditions.

Dolphin Stadium’s wind took over 40 feet from Lance Niekro’s home run.

THT’s Stats

Is Rickie Weeks the new Craig Biggio? Weeks has been hit by a pitch 10 times this season, on pace for 30. To put that in perspective, that total (30) has been topped only four times since 1900. More batters have been getting plunked in recent years, and the trend continues in 2006.
