Carlos Gomez: from Hardball Times to international scouting director

We here in the THT family heard some good news, as Carlos Gomez, a former contributor here at THT, just became the international scouting director for the Arizona Diamondbacks. Obviously, we’re all delighted for him.

He started out as a relief pitcher in the minor leagues who posted at Baseball Think Factory under the user name Chad Bradford Wannabe. From there, he got involved in video analysis of pitchers, and came here to do that.

We thought he was great, and those of you out in reader-land also did. So did the Diamondbacks’ front office, which liked what he wrote enough to hire him as a scout in late 2007. Now he just won a promotion. Good for him.

Interesting thing happened to us on the way back to California. My wife and I stopped at a gas station in Manteca, Arizona. I noticed an object sit.ting on a pumpan island away. It was a perfectly good baseball “Bobble Head “, of Carlos Gomez in uniform. Congratulations on your new position with the
Diamond Backs. If you would like your Bobble Head back, I would be more than happy to return it to you if you would like. Email me and let me know. Sincerely, paul montoya

Backs Carlos. I did not know who you were until I Googled you. I don’t follow baseball. If you would like
