Erstad Hurt

Remember that whole theory that, by moving Darin Erstad out of center field and to first base, and thus removing the thing he does best (defense) from his game, the Angels would keep their “scrappy” leader healthy? That plan looks about as bad now as it did then, because Erstad just went on the DL with a strained hamstring.

In his place, the Angels have called up a real first baseman, Casey Kotchman, who has his own history with injuries. Kotchman, who went 0-for-3 in his MLB debut last night, was my #14 prospect in baseball before the season, and was hitting .368/.438/.544 in 28 games at Double-A when Anaheim called him up.
