Little League home runs

Starting off the Indians-Tigers game today, Michael Brantley scored a Little League home run*—a triple with an error allowing him to score. Brantley’s started two games recently with triples. Once, he later scored the only run in a 1-0 Indians victory. Then the Little Lague home run today.

* I have to give Paul Hoynes of the Cleveland Plain Dealer credit for the name. I had not heard the terms in years and had completely forgotten about it.

Game-starting and scoring triples. That just sounds cool. How often does it happen?

| EVENT ID | EVENT_NAME | N | SCOR_P | OUT_P |

Exactly 916 have boldly started a game with a triple. Eight have scored as Brantley did and five were thrown out at home plate**.

** That is probably going to get you some face time with the manager.

Just for the heck of it, where does the first batter of the game end up after his at-bat?

I will demonstrate at SABR 45 in Chicago on Saturday, June 27, 2015, that this was NOT a Little League home run.
