New Streak

After ending his consecutive saves streak at 84 with a blown save against Arizona on Monday, Eric Gagne started up a new streak last night, saving a 4-1 win over the Diamondbacks.

Also of note from the game is that Jose Lima improved to 7-3 on the year with the victory. Combined with his 14 starts in Kansas City last season, Lima is now 15-6 since the start of the 2003 season. In the three years prior to that, he went 17-34 for the Astros and Tigers.

Lima’s career breaks down into some interesting blocks of time …

1994-1997: 9-22 (.290 win%)
1998-1999: 37-18 (.673)
2000-2002: 17-34 (.333)
2003-2004: 15-6 (.714)

Judging from those numbers, the Dodgers will want to hold onto him for the rest of this year, let him go in the offseason, and then sign him back in 2008 or 2009.
