Rockies trade Holliday to A’s

The first blockbuster trade of the offseason happened today as the Rockies have agreed to trade outfielder Matt Holliday to the A’s in exchange for closer Huston Street, lefty starter Greg Smith, and center fielder Carlos Gonzalez.

So much for the A’s going into rebuilding mode considering Holliday will most likely be a one year rental for the A’s until he becomes a free agent at the end of next year, or the A’s could flip him for more players midseason. I cannot see Scott Boras and Billy Beane negotiating on a contract extension.
