Tigers get Huff

Aubrey Huff, that is, in exchange for right-handed pitcher Brett Jacobson. According to Morosi, “In a statement, Tigers president/general manager Dave Dombrowski said he liked Huff’s versatility and ‘ability to play numerous positions.'”

Does DH and 1B — the only positions he’s played all year — count as “numerous?” Sure, he played a bit of third last year, but after yesterday’s game, do you think Leyland is gonna put anyone other than Inge there anytime soon?

Make the joke, Craig.  You know you want to.  And it will all make us feel just a little better…

Inge is injured and can’t play everyday.  Huff apparently is still a better 3B than Raburn (who I would guess is heading back to AAA as soon as Huff reports to the Tigers).

And when will he report to the Tigers?

In minute and a huff, of course.

Even though huff is a horrible defeseive player this move makes tons of sense for the tigers

Huff is a 32 year old unremarkable fielder with an 87 OPS+.  I, as an Orioles fan, am THRILLED that we got more than a ham sandwich in return for him.

Wish the O’s had traded him last year, when his value was higher, but I suppose it’s good to get something for him rather than nothing, even if it is a Single-A reliever.
