Hear, hear.  Let’s all tip our caps to The Man, not only one of the all-time great ballplayers, but by every account one of the all-time great guys as well.

From the time I saw him on the cover of the Saturday Evening Post Stan Musial was my hero. With the Dodgers still in Brooklyn I looked forward to the Cards’ swing through NY since I’d see them on ch. 11 against the Giants then on ch, 9 against the Dodgers.

I met him a couple of times a few years ago and was still impressed at what a gentleman he was, taking the time to pose for photos, never showing impatience.

He was not only one of the greats on the diamond but also as a person off the field as well.

More than even Ruth or Cobb, I’d love to have seen Musial during his playing days.
