I’m sure Joe West was just as convinced Beuhrle balked as Jim Joyce was convinced Jason Donald was safe at first….that’s baseball, right?

@Ed: West apparently considers himself something of a country singer, and is said to have his recordings for sale on his website. At least that’s what his personal publicist (!) would like you to know. (Now, if we could just get Jar to work in some “Blue Cowboy”…) Thanks for the post!

How did Joe West get to be the Umpire’s union president anyway? Seems like the last guy you’d want to be the official spokesman of your profession. Too bad Selig can’t just fire him.
