Apologizing just wasn’t enough; he had to apologize in the way the “experts” wanted him to, admitting that all of his home runs were due to the juice. But even had he done that, they would have found fault. It’s like that old Chris Rock routine where the woman convince the man that if he just admits to cheating, she’ll forgive him. He admits, then she condemns him for cheating. At least for McGwire, it looks like Cheetah Woods is coming back for the Bay Hill tourney in two weeks, so every other scandal (except for maybe Big Ben) will be forgotten. I might also add that the Eastcoast Sports Promotion Network had virtually no condemnation of Jason Giambi’s or Andy Petitte’s steroid confessions…but then again, they wear pinstripes, so they just roided to overcome injuries, right?
